The best way to influence Google with your online page is with a carefully created headline. The Page Title is what shows up at the to of the browser window — and is what Google spiders see first. [Use this information for blog article headlines as well.]

Tips for Titles

1. Make certain your Page Titles contain your most important keywords.

2. Where to put those keywords? At the beginning of the title where they will have more influence than at the end.

3. When creating your title, be sure it sounds like something people will want to read.

4. Finally, consider adding your company name at the end of the title on your home page; this allows your most important keywords to have more weight.

The home page of a website is a good place to start, but do not neglect deeper pages, especially product landing pages. It is important to optimize titles for these pages as well.
