4 Strategies to Connect Across Several Groups
May 12, 2010 by: ShariFrom Trust Agents by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith
There are no shortcuts to maintaining relationships, but Chris and Julien suggest four methods for keeping networks alive and preserving your value as the trust agent working within several networks.
1. Basic Touch: Send out brief personal messages to check in regularly with the individuals in your network.
2. Level of Service: Understand that no one can maintain an infinite number of relationships, so you will need to plan upfront to limit expectations.
3. Friends First: Being active in social media will bring more and more connections, but “trust agents” will make certain to continue to support their closest friends — and not forget about them.
4. Raise Armies: Build networks of people who can do what you do — to help others perform tasks when you are not available AND give others the chance to practice their craft and expertise.
Once you reach a certain-sized system of personal networks, new challenges arise and the four strategies listed above should help you meet them.
